Duramic 3D vs Overture vs SUNLU: which budget PLA actually wins?
I've printed all three. Overture is the safe all-rounder, SUNLU is the cheapest and most available, and Duramic PLA+ is the toughest and most ductile. Here's exactly which to buy — and when.

Ask "what budget filament should I buy?" anywhere and you'll get the same three names back: Duramic, Overture and SUNLU. I've printed all three — they were part of the roughly ten spools in my bend-test comparison — so here's the honest, side-by-side version instead of another spec-sheet copy-paste.

Toughness and consistency calls are my hands-on impressions — identical parts, same printer, bent by hand — not calibrated lab numbers. All three are genuinely good spools; I'm ranking specific traits, not naming a loser.
Where each one wins
Duramic PLA+ — the toughness pick
This is the spool I reach for when a part has a job. Across my bend tests it was the most ductile of the group — it flexed the furthest before the first crack — while still printing exactly like standard PLA ($220 ± 10 °C nozzle, no enclosure, no hardened nozzle). Duramic markets it as impact-modified "PLA Pro," and that tracks with how the parts behave in the hand. Overture — the reliable all-rounder
Overture is the spool I'd hand someone who prints a little of everything and doesn't want to think about it. It's remarkably consistent from spool to spool, the colour range is enormous, and it's forgiving on stock profiles. It didn't bend quite as far as Duramic PLA+ in my tests, but for general printing — models, prototypes, everyday parts — it's a genuinely safe default. (See Overture on Amazon.)
SUNLU — the price-and-availability pick
SUNLU's superpower is that it's cheap and it's everywhere — usually the lowest price of the three, stocked in every marketplace, with SUNLU Meta aimed at fast printing. Quality is good, with the occasional less-consistent spool. If you're printing in volume and cost per kilo is the deciding factor, SUNLU is hard to argue with. (See SUNLU on Amazon.)
On price: all three live in the same budget band, and the ranking flips with whatever's on sale that week. Don't buy on a price from any review — including this one. Check the day's Amazon price and grab whichever of the three is cheapest for the job you're doing.
So which should you buy?
- Tough, functional parts that must survive drops → Duramic PLA+.
- One do-everything spool, printed on autopilot → Overture.
- Lowest cost per kilo, printing in volume → SUNLU.
- Purely decorative, cheapest possible → whichever standard PLA is on sale (any of the three).
- Not sure? Start with Duramic PLA+ — it's the only one that also covers the "it broke" problems, and it prints just as easily. Then keep a cheap SUNLU spool around for the throwaway prints.

Depends what you're printing. In my bend tests Duramic PLA+ was the more ductile, tougher spool — it flexed further before cracking — so for functional parts I reach for it first. Overture is the better do-everything default: hugely consistent spool to spool, a big colour range, and it just works. Neither is 'bad'; Duramic wins on toughness, Overture wins on being an all-rounder.
